Elon Musk and the White House: the “holy war” cannot end

Read Time:6 Minute, 56 Second

The confrontation between Elon Musk and the administration of President Joe Biden, which began with the billionaire’s resonant statements about the events in Ukraine and his attempt to disable free use of the Starlink system, continued with the White House’s attempt to launch a criminal investigation against him because of this. Moreover, this confrontation entered another phase of escalation after Musk acquired the social network Twitter, logically only gaining momentum. The outcome of the presidential election in 2024 is at stake and the stakes are steadily rising. Although the Democrats turned on the full force of their administrative apparatus in the 8 November congressional elections, they failed to maintain control of the House of Representatives. This weakness was well understood by the Democrats and by Musk, who pushed everyone involved to active information actions.

The first one to attack was Elon Musk, who continues to mock the political class in Washington. At the end of November, the billionaire promised to publish internal Twitter correspondence about the decision to ban the discussion of Hunter Biden’s corruption in 2020. Along with deleting fake accounts, Musk wanted to restore public trust in Twitter’s political censorship-free network, and he chose the perfect moment to emphasize his merits in this release.  After all, Hunter Biden is now under federal investigation for not paying taxes, and attacking him is a personal blow to his presidential father.  Especially since the Republicans in Congress will launch their big investigation into corruption and money laundering in early January, with the younger Biden as the main figure.

Musk could easily share with Congress information about the ties between Twitter’s past leadership and the Democrat Party while censoring for political purposes. Musk is now quite openly supporting Republicans. He has even called to vote for them in congressional elections. The billionaire also reiterated that he is particularly attracted to Ron DeSantis, essentially a “stand-in” for Trump with a good chance of replacing him, and Musk is ready to support him in the presidential election and in 2024. Musk’s support, including financial support, could make it much easier for DeSantis to run for president. They are united not only by their dislike of the Democrats, but also by their close ties to the U.S. military establishment, so it is not hard for Musk and DeSantis to find common ground. Such an alliance scares the White House very much.

The “democratic” response to this threat has, of course, hit Musk’s business. The campaign to “cancel” Elon Musk and attempts to ruin him have already taken the most bizarre forms. For example, the liberal and “progressive” audience in the U.S., which previously adored eco-friendly vehicles, begins to reject Tesla cars demonstratively. Congresswoman and radical leftist Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was the first to announce it. Her motivation for her choice was also very close in motivation to her ideological ancestors like Karl Marx or Vladimir Lenin, and was an attempt to portray Musk as a capitalist exploiter.  She promised to buy her next electric car only from a company that, unlike Tesla, allows its employees to join a union. Her example was followed by actress Alyssa Milano, who announced in the most pathetic way that she sold her Tesla and bought a Volkswagen electric car, accusing Musk of promoting hate and white supremacy. She was not even aware by the fact that Volkswagen was Adolf Hitler’s favorite project in Nazi Germany. Like many ventures implemented with the help of religious “cultural Marxism,” Musk’s boycott campaign has had little effect on Tesla’s market position so far. The company sold a record 340,000 electric cars in the third quarter of 2022. In the U.S., its market share for the year grew from 2% to 3.5%, although the Democrats will still try to reduce it with pressure in the future.

More effective so far are repressive “democratic” efforts to fight Twitter financially. The social network has recently lost half of its top 100 advertisers. These companies spent $2 billion to buy ads on Twitter in 2020 and only $750 million this year. However, now they refuse to cooperate with Musk. Among those involved in the boycott are such giants as Chevrolet, Ford, Jeep and Merck, which is causing the company multi-million dollar losses because advertising is the main source of its profits. Despite such successes, the Democrats do not dare about using purely forced terror on a regular basis. Militants from anarchist movements and “antifa,” who are backed by members of the left wing of the Democratic Party, have begun to smash and try to set fire to Tesla dealerships in metropolitan areas such as Portland and Seattle. They make no secret of the fact that they want revenge on Elon Musk for reforming Twitter and his support for the Republicans. In response, Musk has blocked several popular “antifa” accounts on his social network and this is one of the first such cases: until recently, this was not dared, even when the fighters against “white racism” called for pogroms during the summer riots in 2020. In this case, it was the Republican billionaire who finally punished them for their extremism, which will further exacerbate their hatred. Digital giants Apple and Google have already joined the fight against Twitter. Musk reported that Apple threatened to remove the social network’s app from the AppStore without giving a reason, which is a typical handwriting of Democrats in the fight against their opponents on the Internet. The corporation has already stopped advertising its products on the social network and Apple’s director of AppStore development has defiantly deleted his own Twitter account. Liberal NGOs close to George Soros and Hillary Clinton actively pressured the remaining advertisers to stop doing business with Musk’s social network.

And then the billionaire struck back and began to fulfill his November promises of revelations. In early December, he released the first batch of internal Twitter documents about censorship. They revealed that both the Trump White House and the Democratic National Committee were simultaneously communicating with Twitter in 2020. But there were many more requests from the latter to delete various posts they didn’t like, essentially suppressing free speech. For example, Democrats demanded that Twitter stop discussing Hunter Biden’s laptop and his corruption, fearing it could affect the outcome of the election, like Hillary Clinton’s “email” scandals in 2016. As a result, Twitter decided to delete posts about Hunter’s corruption on the grounds that the information had allegedly been obtained through a hacking attack. In fact, the data came from Hunter’s laptop, which he had left in Delaware’s workshop. Moreover, Twitter’s lawyers understood that this explanation does not stand up to criticism, but they could not come up with anything better. Twitter began to receive threats that they would face a “bloodbath” in Congress if they refused to censor content. Democrats claimed that the right to free speech is not absolute and they threatened Twitter with harsh measures if they don’t put an end to the discussion of Hunter’s corruption. Musk plans to post new portions of the revelations soon, and Republicans are already hinting at the start of an investigation into the censorship of Google and Meta to find out details and their close ties to the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Musk’s actions are beginning to irritate Democrats more and more. If before they threatened to investigate national security, now they have started a campaign to pressure Apple and Google to remove the Twitter app because Musk refuses to censor “politically incorrect” content that is dangerous to Democrats. However, the more the Democrat goes to war with Musk, the more he will be motivated to support Republicans, so this may still end up hurting the Democrats a lot. They are clearly not looking to bury the hatchet and the pressure on Musk will only increase. Liberal advertisers are fleeing the social network to force him to give up Twitter and to make Musk suffer more and more losses. However, Musk has already hinted that he wouldn’t mind bankrupting Twitter if he had to. More than once he has said that he is ready to accept losses for the sake of his political ambitions. This means that the “holy war” between Elon Musk and the White House is just beginning.
