While Britain Is Mired in Crisis, the British Liberal Elites Continue Their Old Games
Britain, in the throes of crisis, sees its elites using their last reserves of influence to lobby for digital IDs for American sponsors and oil projects off Gaza. But against this backdrop, a political upheaval is looming. Polls predict a crushing defeat for the traditional parties and an absolute majority for Nigel Farage’s radical Reform Party.
Corruption as a business model for the British elite
As the UK falls into the abyss of economic and migration crises, risking its very survival as a unified country, the British elite are playing at “imperial ambitions,” not forgetting their personal gain. So, while Trump is seeking to become the main political beneficiary of the truce agreement in Gaza, Tony Blair will try to make the most money from lobbying around the future “pacification” in Gaza. This is because his institute played a significant role in drawing up the plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Recently, the close ties between the “socialist” Blair and the family of Republican billionaire sponsors, the Ellisons, who are close to Trump, have been revealed. They have taken control of CBS News and are increasing their influence in the US. At the same time, the Ellisons have become the main donors to Tony Blair’s institute, which has received more than $300 million from them. Through Blair and his allies in the Labour cabinet, the Ellisons are promoting the idea of creating a digital ID card in the UK. Therefore, all Britons may end up on the servers of the Oracle Corporation, owned by the Ellisons, and corruption in the country will be completely “defeated.” And Blair does not care in the slightest that his ‘free’ country will end up under significant control of American “fascists,” because profit is much more important.

In the Middle East, Tony Blair has been seen lobbying on behalf of JPMorgan clients, from whom he received funding, and his current sponsors include BP and PetroSaudi, which are bidding for contracts to develop fields off the coast of Gaza. But this activity is fraught with high risks. The world’s close attention to the situation in Gaza could turn Blair’s usual corruption schemes into a global scandal, damaging his party, the Labour Party. The party is already virtually guaranteed to suffer a crushing defeat in the upcoming elections, and Nigel Farage’s Reform Party coming to power could sharply limit Blair’s influence and opportunities. Therefore, he is rushing to reap profits while he still has political and economic leverage, especially against the backdrop of a deep crisis in the British economy.
Keir Starmer’s desperate deal
Because of this, everyone is looking for ways to save the British economy. Even Keir Starmer’s cabinet, which recently organized a major trip to India, is asking this question. British politicians and business leaders desperately asked the Indians for money and investments to somehow revive the stagnating national economy. Not long ago, Keir Starmer hastily concluded a trade deal with India, opening the British market to Indian goods and migrants, and promising to increase the issuance of student visas to support the funding of British universities. But increased immigration from India could exacerbate social tensions amid racial conflicts in the UK, boosting the popularity of Nigel Farage’s Reform Party, whose ratings already exceed those of Labour and the Conservatives combined.
India, in turn, has promised to shoot three Bollywood films in the UK in response to Trump’s threat to impose a 100% tariff on American films shot abroad. This measure will hit the British film industry particularly hard, as two-thirds of its production depends on Hollywood studios. For the sake of Indian investment, Starmer has moved away from his traditional themes, such as Ukraine, avoiding discussion of India’s cooperation with Russia. However, this deal is unlikely to help overcome the acute budget crisis in London, as the upcoming tax increases will continue to weigh on the already stagnant British economy.

Against this backdrop, the ratings of mainstream liberal parties continue to fall. Sociologists are anxiously sharing data from recent studies, which suggest that if elections were held now, traditional British parties would suffer a crushing defeat. Nigel Farage’s Reform Party, which previously hoped only for a large faction, is now preparing to win an absolute majority — up to 450 seats out of 650 — by poaching Conservative MPs. Labour may retain only about 70 seats, and more than half of the current ministers risk losing their constituencies and the Conservatives, meanwhile, risk becoming a marginal force with a dozen MPs. This shift is due to the protracted economic and budgetary crisis, as well as the uncontrolled influx of migrants.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has become the most unpopular head of government in the country’s modern history, symbolizing society’s willingness to reject the old parties that provided “liberal stability” and to bet on a radically new force in the person of Farage. In these circumstances, the London establishment has one last desperate hope: to repeat the American scenario of removing an unpopular leader, similar to Charlie Kirk. An Afghan migrant who publicly threatened to kill Farage was recently arrested. Without such a forceful scenario, it is already impossible to stop the rise of non-systemic forces. If it fails, Britain will face a powerful electoral wave that will finally weaken and destabilize the political class responsible for the current systemic crisis.
Fish and chips as a symbol of British decline
The economic crisis in the UK was getting worse by the day, as clearly demonstrated by the fast food industry. The country continues to experience a shortage of white fish caused by the sanctions war with Russia. After restrictions were introduced in 2022, seafood supplies declined, even though 40% of cod was previously imported from Russia. At the same time, the UK’s own fishing industry has been undermined, as confirmed by London’s recent deal with Paris, which effectively gave French fishermen access to British waters. In addition, in 2023, the 1956 agreement with the USSR was canceled, depriving the British market of half a million tons of cod from the Barents Sea. As a result, prices for traditional fish and chips rose by an average of 52%, putting up to half of the relevant establishments at risk of bankruptcy.
Overall, the food security situation in the UK continues to deteriorate. Currently, about 20% of children live in families that are systematically undernourished. The situation was exacerbated by logistical disruptions, rising food inflation, and forced austerity measures due to an acute budget crisis, which forced Labour to cut social benefits contrary to its own ideology. All this led to historically low ratings for the ruling party. In the polls, Labour and the Conservatives were overtaken not only by Nigel Farage’s nationalists, but also by the Greens, whose program seemed more consistent. Thus, the traditional two-party system in the UK collapsed along with the economy, and the desperate population was ready to support any alternative, just to break the deadlock.

The British position was clearly demonstrated when, on the eve of Remembrance Day, the speeches of Alec Penstone, one of the last living witnesses of the Normandy landings, caused a major scandal in the UK. He was a sailor on one of the submarines that protected the landing ships during the Normandy operation. Now 100 years old, Penstone was invited to ITV on the eve of the holiday, where he was expected to give the standard patriotic speech about the past and the fight against fascism, which they are trying to link to the Reform Party. But he let the show’s organizers down, burst into tears, and said that he no longer considers the losses suffered in World War II to be justified. Because, given the deplorable state of the UK, the veteran does not understand what he was fighting for back then.
And his feelings are quite understandable, because he hardly fought for the current rampant crime with murders on the streets of London, gangs of Pakistani migrant rapists, and the imprisonment of those who are outraged by this. It is no coincidence that eight out of ten Britons believe their country is in a critical situation, and all the mainstream parties are rapidly losing electoral support before our very eyes.
Moreover, the views of the British sailor are often echoed on the other side of the Atlantic. Centennial American veteran Carl Decker caused a similar stir in 2022 when he said that the values his generation fought for during World War II had now been “flushed down the drain.” And the younger generation will never have the opportunities they had. It was partly due to nostalgia for the past that Trump was elected in 2024, and although his ratings have now fallen sharply and two-thirds of Americans believe their country is heading in the wrong direction, the demand for change and genuine patriotism has not gone away.
Such sentiments among veterans are unlikely to motivate any potential recruits to follow in their footsteps and fight for a Britain that has been betrayed by its own government. And unlike in the past, the Labour Party and the Tories are no longer able to feign pseudo-patriotism, despite the tried and tested methods they have been using for many years. And although Britain is currently mired in crisis, the British liberal elites continue to play their old games, but their chances of winning are melting away before our eyes.
