New York City is a symbol of the most miserable liberal metropolis in the United States

Read Time:6 Minute, 7 Second

Democrat rule turns cities into ghettos with high levels of crime and corruption. This is a consequence of liberal policies with many concessions to migrants, minorities and cuts in police spending. A good example of “democratic governance” is New York.

The image of the largest metropolis

New York, along with San Francisco, has become a true symbol of the destructive activities of the liberal left and increasingly resembles a miniature Third World country. The largest liberal metropolis in the U.S. has especially “opened up” during the Biden era. For example, in Queens, which is represented in Congress by the left-wing radical communist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the streets are flooded with hoarders operating without licenses and without paying fees. There are many “night butterflies” on the streets, although prostitution is illegal and punishable by arrest. An army of homeless and migrants loot stores and sell stolen goods for half price in the open air. Even if someone is arrested, they are quickly released without bail, because it is an axiom of progressive justice not to punish “disadvantaged” groups like minorities or illegal immigrants.

The police have stopped since a long time trying to fulfill their functions. In 2024, New York City is flooded with 200,000 illegal migrants deported from Texas, and crime rates skyrocket. Thousands of police officers are resigning, seeing no point in their work. Democrats even had to militarize the city and send National Guardsmen to guard the subways. This didn’t help much, though, and shootings continued on the subways. New York gradually went into permanent chaos, like all liberal metropolitan areas, being the leader in this process.

Corruption in the highest echelons of power

Close to the presidential election, it became clear that New York City was mired in a protracted crisis. In the fall, a series of corruption scandals came to light amid a fierce struggle between the city’s elites. First to come under fire was the city’s police commissioner, Edward Caban, who was sent to retirement for apparent corruption cases. The commissioner has a racketeering twin brother, James, who extorted money from bar and nightclub owners by promising to straighten out legal problems. Police failed to respond to violations at establishments that paid bribes to their family business.

Then the leadership of the New York City Fire Department who took bribes to resolve small business inspections was also arrested. Those who paid the right amount had no problems with inspections. Everyone else had to wait in line for a long time; inspections were conducted for a long time and with the risk of closing the business.

Well, at the epicenter of the scandals was Mayor Eric Adams, a former police officer who promoted a “law and order” agenda. It is doubly ironic that he is the subject of several investigations at once. First, Adams is accused of receiving money and gifts from Turkish lobbyists. The mayor often flew first class to Istanbul and did not do it at his own expense. His campaign headquarters received money from abroad through Turkey from sponsors in Qatar and Uzbekistan, and in exchange, Adams lobbied in every possible way for the interests of foreign businesses with interests in New York. Second, he gave a firm associated with a close friend a lucrative $150 million government contract. Finally, Adams’ employee is trying to be accused of lobbying for China. The leadership of New York is simply paralyzed by these lawsuits, while the situation in the metropolis is rapidly deteriorating.

It’s no coincidence that Adams is being targeted. He has a long-standing conflict with Biden, whom he openly accused of unwillingness to resolve the migration crisis. Adams couldn’t fix the situation, so he blamed everything on the White House, and Biden’s team responded by scaring him with investigations. The entire New York City leadership close to Adams was under attack. Although Adams did give contracts to his friends and relatives, his misdeeds pale in comparison to what the previous mayor, Bill de Blasio, who funneled about $1 billion from the city budget through his wife’s “charitable” foundation.

In the course of the investigation, a whole system of corruption in New York was uncovered and top officials in the city began to resign en masse. There is no doubt that Adams will be removed soon, but the situation in New York will continue to deteriorate. May New-Yorkers from middle class are leaving and 50% of residents want to leave the city within the next 5 years. Their place is being taken by illegal migrants demanding benefits, and the ghettoization of New York is in full swing, making it another “liberal paradise” like Detroit.

Nevertheless, Eric Adams has decided to give Biden and Harris a fight. The hapless New York City mayor accused the White House of politicizing justice. Despite being the first mayor in New York City history to have a criminal case filed against him, Adams believes it was “punishment” for criticizing Biden’s policies. New York’s politicized justice was first preoccupied with attacking Trump, but now it has also focused on the Democrats’ intra-species rivalry. They have begun to devour each other amid the crisis into which they themselves have driven New York. The Big Apple is probably not the worst example, and is only noticeable because of its population and economic status.

“Democratic metastasis” in other cities

Minneapolis was the second liberal metropolis in the U.S., after Seattle, to begin recruiting migrants into the police force. It was Minneapolis that was the epicenter of the BLM pogroms in 2020, and police stations there were actively seized. Since then, more than 40% of law enforcement officers have resigned. There is a severe shortage of police officers, so now migrants from Somalia are being recruited. Minnesota has a large Somali diaspora, and it is even called a small Mogadishu, and recently they changed the state flag, it became very similar to the Somali flag.

In a similar way, Seattle has begun to recruit illegals into the police force. This is happening, again, because of the shortage of law enforcement officers, because the number of police in Seattle has decreased by 45% since 2020. In Colorado they are thinking of sending 911 drones to monitor the situation instead of police. In New York, 2500 law enforcement officers resigned in 2023 alone, and Louisiana even declared a state of emergency because of a shortage of police officers. All of this has expectedly led to an upsurge in crime, with the number of murders alone in the U.S. jumping 40% since 2019. The situation with mass store robberies, especially in states like California, has long been out of control.

The Democrats are trying not to touch this topic in any way, while Trump recently proposed to organize a literal “night of judgment” in the form of a crackdown on criminals, and at the same time to use the army to fight the Mexican cartels. However, this is unlikely to stop liberal metropolitan areas from sliding into permanent chaos. New York, which has already become a symbol of the most unhappy liberal metropolis in the United States, will always be in the “leaders”, becoming the center of political confrontations.
